Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy (the "AUP") sets out what you may and may not do with Spronta. It forms part of our Terms of Service, and the definitions in those Terms apply here. Breaching this AUP is a breach of the Terms.

1. What this covers

Spronta lets you build and publish content — banners, popups, lead capture forms, calculators, and landing pages — that is then served to visitors of your website. This AUP applies to all of it, and to everything else you do with the Service. Specifically, it covers:

  • Anything you create, configure, or generate in Spronta, including with our AI features
  • Anything you publish or serve through Spronta to your visitors
  • The sites and domains you install Spronta on
  • Any personal data you collect through what you publish
  • Your use of our API, SDKs, CLI, MCP server, and desktop app

You are responsible for all of the above, whether you created it yourself, generated it with our AI features, or someone else did so under your account. AI-generated output is your content once you publish it.

2. Prohibited content and activities

You must not use Spronta to create, publish, serve, promote, or link to any of the following.

2.1 Illegal and harmful

  • Anything unlawful under the laws of England and Wales, or the laws applicable to you or your visitors
  • Child sexual abuse material, or any content that sexualises minors. We report this to the authorities and to relevant hotlines, and we terminate immediately and without notice
  • Content promoting or facilitating terrorism, violent extremism, or mass violence
  • Content that incites, threatens, or glorifies violence against any person or group
  • Hate speech, or content that harasses, bullies, or degrades people on the basis of a protected characteristic
  • Content that facilitates human trafficking or exploitation
  • Content that promotes self-harm, suicide, or eating disorders

2.2 Fraud and deception

  • Phishing, credential harvesting, or any attempt to trick visitors into revealing passwords, payment details, one-time codes, or other sensitive information
  • Impersonating any person, brand, or organisation, or falsely implying affiliation, endorsement, or partnership
  • Fake reviews, fabricated testimonials, invented endorsements, or fabricated press coverage
  • Fake scarcity or urgency — countdown timers that reset, stock counters that are not real, "3 people are viewing this" style claims that are not based on actual data
  • Bait-and-switch offers, hidden or misrepresented pricing, undisclosed recurring charges, or negative-option billing
  • Get-rich-quick schemes, pyramid or Ponzi schemes, multi-level marketing recruitment, and "make money fast" offers
  • Deceptive claims about earnings, investment returns, health outcomes, or the performance of any product

2.3 Malicious and technical abuse

  • Malware, spyware, ransomware, or any code intended to damage, disrupt, or gain unauthorised access to a device or system
  • Cryptocurrency mining, or any use of a visitor's device resources for purposes unrelated to the page they are on
  • Installing Spronta on, or publishing to, any site or domain you do not own or are not authorised to modify
  • Cloaking, or serving materially different content to us, to visitors, or to search engines in order to evade review
  • Unauthorised redirects, forced downloads, or pop-unders that a visitor did not ask for
  • Using Spronta to attack, overload, scan, or probe any system, or to circumvent any security control or rate limit
  • Interfering with browser security features, or with the operation of any other software on a visitor's device

2.4 Regulated and restricted categories

Our payment and infrastructure providers restrict certain categories, and those restrictions pass through to you. You must not use Spronta in connection with:

  • Adult or sexually explicit content or services
  • Illegal drugs, controlled substances, or drug paraphernalia
  • Weapons, ammunition, explosives, or their components
  • Counterfeit goods, or goods that infringe another party's trade marks or copyright
  • Gambling, betting, lotteries, or sweepstakes, unless you hold every licence required in every jurisdiction you target and have our prior written agreement
  • Cryptocurrency offerings, token sales, or investment products, unless you are properly authorised and have our prior written agreement
  • Financial, legal, medical, or tax advice that you are not licensed or qualified to give
  • Unapproved pharmaceuticals, supplements making disease claims, or miracle cure claims
  • Debt relief, credit repair, essay writing, or other services subject to sector-specific advertising rules, unless you comply with those rules in full

This list is not exhaustive. Where our providers prohibit or restrict a category, we may prohibit it too, and we may have to act on short notice to remain compliant with their terms.

2.5 Spam and unsolicited messaging

  • Sending unsolicited marketing to addresses collected through Spronta, in breach of PECR, GDPR, CAN-SPAM, CASL, or any equivalent law
  • Collecting contact details under one pretext and using them for another
  • Selling, renting, or sharing collected contact details in a way your visitors were not clearly told about and did not agree to

3. Personal data you collect

Where you use Spronta to collect personal data from your visitors — an email address in a lead capture form, for example — you are the data controller for that data and we process it on your behalf. See section 6 of the Terms and our Privacy Policy.

You must:

  • Have a lawful basis for collecting it, and give clear notice at the point of collection of who you are and what you will use it for
  • Publish an accessible and accurate privacy policy on any site where you run Spronta
  • Obtain any consent the law requires, including for marketing and for non-essential cookies or similar technologies
  • Honour objections, withdrawals of consent, and data subject rights requests promptly

You must not use Spronta to collect:

  • Special category data under UK or EU GDPR — health, racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, genetic or biometric data, sex life or sexual orientation — unless you have a valid condition for doing so and have told us in advance
  • Payment card numbers, bank account details, or full financial credentials. Take payments through a payment provider, not through a Spronta form
  • Government identifiers such as passport, national insurance, or social security numbers
  • Passwords or authentication credentials for any service
  • Personal data from children under 13, or from children under the age of digital consent in their jurisdiction where consent is your lawful basis

4. Your responsibility for AI output

Spronta's AI features generate copy, layouts, and code from what you describe. That output can be wrong, misleading, or unsuitable, and it may resemble existing material. Before you publish anything generated with our AI features, you are responsible for checking that it:

  • Is accurate, and that any claim it makes about your product, pricing, or results is substantiated
  • Complies with this AUP, with advertising rules applicable to you, and with the law
  • Does not infringe anyone's intellectual property or misuse anyone's brand
  • Is accessible to your visitors, and does not degrade the usability of your site

Publishing is your decision. Once you publish, the output is your content and you are accountable for it.

5. Reporting abuse

If you believe something published through Spronta breaches this AUP, tell us at hello@spronta.com. Include the URL where you saw it, what you saw, and when. We review every report we receive.

For copyright specifically, follow the notice procedure in section 12 of the Terms. For security vulnerabilities, follow section 15.

6. How we enforce this

We may investigate suspected breaches, and we may take any of the following steps at any time and in our sole discretion, as set out in section 4.5 of the Terms:

  • Unpublish or disable specific widgets, popups, or pages
  • Restrict or suspend features on your account
  • Suspend or close your account and terminate your access
  • Retain records of the breach where we need them for legal or compliance purposes
  • Report the matter to law enforcement or a regulator where the law requires it or where we consider it appropriate

Where practical, we will tell you what the problem is and give you a chance to fix it. For serious breaches — anything in 2.1, phishing, malware, or conduct that puts our providers or other customers at risk — we will act immediately and without prior notice.

We are not obliged to monitor what you publish, and we do not pre-screen it. Nothing here makes us responsible for your content.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this AUP as the Service changes, as new kinds of abuse appear, or as our providers change their requirements. Material changes follow the notice process in section 20 of the Terms. Where a change is needed urgently to comply with law or with a provider's terms, it may take effect immediately.
