What is an online image resizer?

An online image resizer lets you change the pixel width and height of a photo or graphic without installing desktop software. It is useful when you need a specific size for a website, email template, social crop, or asset handoff.

Spronta’s resizer runs in the browser flow you see above: you set dimensions, choose how the image should fit the frame, upload a file, and download the output. The same resize logic powers Spronta’s CDN when you add query parameters to image URLs in production.

How to use this image resizer

  1. Choose width and height in pixelsEnter the output size you need. You can use common presets like 800×600 or match a layout slot on your site.
  2. Pick a fit modeCover fills the frame and may crop edges. Contain fits the whole image inside the frame with possible letterboxing. Fill stretches the image to exactly match width and height.
  3. Upload your imageDrag and drop a JPEG, PNG, GIF, or WebP file (up to 20 MB), or click the zone to browse. The tool uploads your file so Spronta’s CDN can apply resize parameters.
  4. Download the resized fileWhen the preview looks right, download the result. No account is required and we do not add watermarks.

Image resizer FAQ

Is Spronta’s image resizer free?
Yes. The resizer is free to use, with no signup and no watermarks on downloads.
What image formats does the resizer support?
You can upload JPEG, PNG, GIF, or WebP images up to 20 MB per file.
What is the difference between cover, contain, and fill?
Cover scales the image until it fully covers your width and height, cropping what does not fit—good for hero images. Contain scales the image so the entire picture is visible inside the frame, which may leave empty space. Fill stretches the image to the exact width and height, which can distort aspect ratio.
What is the largest size I can set?
You can enter dimensions up to 8192 pixels for width and height in the tool.
Does resizing reduce image quality?
Making an image smaller usually keeps it sharp for screen use. Enlarging a small image spreads the same pixels over a larger area, which can look soft or pixelated—start from the highest-resolution source you have when you need big outputs.
Where does my image go when I use this tool?
Your file is uploaded to Spronta’s image infrastructure so the CDN can build the resized URL you see in the preview. Download the result if you want a local copy. For fully automated resizing in production, Spronta serves variants on demand from URLs with parameters such as ?w=800.
